Fleet Driver Training

Fleet driver trainers specialize in providing training to fleet drivers of cars and vans. The scheme follows the work of a group involving DSA, employers, risk-managers, insurers and trainers, and consultation with interested parties.

In brief, the fleet training program is divided into three sessions;

On Road Initial Driving Assessment
The first drive is conducted without any guidance or assistance from the trainer. It lasts approximately 40 minutes and will cover all aspects of driving including town, country/rural, motorway and a general manoeuvre (Parallel park, Bay reverse park etc) This session is known as the risk assessment drive and is where the trainer will assess the risks in the drive and record them for consultation.

Assessment Drive Consultation
Once the initial assessment drive is complete, the trainer will consult with the driver the risks recorded. They will then discuss these risks and methods that can be adopted to reduce future risks.

Final Assessment Drive
The final drive is then conducted taking into consideration the assessment drive consultation. This drive again lasts for approximately 40 minutes and gives the driver the opportunity to adopt the points made by the trainer towards reducing their risks.
